Melbourne’s mild sun shines as a crowd of students and public laze about on the
green slopes in front of the State Library. The twang of music snaps across
this intersection as a busker is working the strings of a strange instrument to
the delight of the crowd. Immediately phones frenzy to record footage and coins
clatter into a guitar case.
But who is this man? What instrument is he playing? Why does he do this?
Buskers Of Melbourne was born from these questions, a project started by a group of students dedicated to exploring the storied narrative of buskers and busking culture in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
Our goal is to share the stories of these cultural figures to the world, through their own words. Bringing a human element behind the people who briefly encapsulate you through music in our everyday lives.
